The Penn State Alumni AssociationWhat’s been happening: After I received my PhD from Penn State in 1969 I joined the faculty of the University of the Virgin Islands. I remained there until 1986 when I joined the faculty of Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas. I retired from there as Professor Emeritus in 2007. I taught many courses at both institutions. From 1969 until 2007 I taught organic chemistry virtually every year. I occasionally taught general chemistry at UVI, but more often I taught astronomy and general physics. At Pittsburg State University I usually taught polymer chemistry and occasionally other courses like general physics. I directed several Master's thesis students. Since my retirement I have kept busy restoring old research grade microscopes, working with clocks, and keeping a collection of large parrots. I have also found many other interesting activities such as writing computer programs, digital photography, and astronomy. |
